Posted: 07/29/10 06:19 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationWe'll find out in a few months
MBE was as bad as everyone claims, imo. I know there are experimental questions mixed in, and it's supposed to be hard/surprising, but there were gaping holes in BarBri's prep. Some were esoteric tort doctrines I recalled hearing of once or twice as a 1L; other questions would have been lost if I hadn't been able to do two volunteer stints with the Feds. I'm sure that thousands of people hadn't had such opportunities and probably weren't as lucky. Essays seemed tough, but fair. I think I hit the major issues, even if I missed some errata and flubbed some of the analysis. No opinion on the MPT. Seems like a writing/thinking test more than anything, and no two are sufficiently alike for me to really gauge my ability vs. the BarBri models. I don't want to re-take, but I'll do what I need to do. The stressful part of taking a low-pass jurisdiction's exam is realizing that 20-33% of the people around you WILL fail, you may be one of them, and people are probably thinking the same thing about you. |

Posted: 07/30/10 03:14 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationNot that I saw or heard.

Posted: 08/05/10 02:25 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationNobody I saw, but it would be rather easy. First, they only require photo ID (these are impossible to fake, right?). Once in, they only check your ID, not the fucking computer which could be switched with anyone. Then there is the stupid version of just checking an outline in the stall.
I bs'ed with a proctor, and she could not comment on cheating, but they did find mutiple bottles of booze which people did not even bother to toss in the trash. She also suspected someone had been snorting something off the back of a toilet. |

Posted: 08/11/10 08:31 AM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationI've taken three bar exams, and in at least two (FL & CA) they required a thumbprint as well as ID. MA was so long ago, I don't recall if they required that.
It simply doesn't seem that there is much to gain by trying to cheat. Honestly, even if I had been able to bring my Conviser into the exams, I can't see how that would have made my score go up at all. If you can't access the information from memory, you simply wouldn't have time to finish the exam - period. |

Posted: 08/11/10 08:49 AM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationAdd to this the fact that if you get caught, your career is destroyed. That's a lot to risk to avoid memorizing some black letter law.

Posted: 08/11/10 04:54 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationI'm just remembering the lulz over the girl who they busted for cheating when I took the bar. She started crying as they escorted her out. Idiot.

Posted: 08/11/10 05:01 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationI was towards the middle of the column and she was a couple rows behind me. I could hear her start to argue with the guy, and I turned around to see what the hell was going on. I asked some friends in the back what had happened. They said the guy was all like, I saw what you did. If you don't agree, then you can file a complaint. She started to cry and the guy just kept moving her out of the room. Talk about no moe jahb.

Posted: 08/11/10 05:53 PM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationDamn, owned. Did you ever find out what she did?
Posted: 08/12/10 04:42 AM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationNope, but the lulzyness remains.

Posted: 08/13/10 04:21 AM Flag: Best-Of Helpful NSFW Spam TOS ViolationI can beat that: some guy got arrested during the NY bar last year and, as far as I know, charged with various federal crimes. He didn't get to finish. His wife was taking the bar with him as well. Not sure what happened to her, but I imagine that maintaining enough focus to pass in those circumstances would be difficult.
